Gallo Gives Third-Quarter Donations Announced

As part of its continual effort to make a difference in the community in which its members live and serve, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty’s Gallo Gives Foundation awarded its 2021 third-quarter donations to the Harry K Foundation, Community Resource Center, Village Improvement Association, Family Promise of Southern Delaware, Delaware Interfaith Power & Light, Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition and Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. The total amount donated for this quarter was $12,000.  

aThe Harry K Foundation was awarded $2,500 as a sapphire sponsorship of the organization’s annual Christmas gala. The foundation disburses funds through the Food Bank of Delaware to support school backpack programs, and establish and institute school pantries throughout Delaware. The Harry K Foundation works closely with the food bank, communicating and coordinating how funds will benefit the most children in need. Through the guidance of carefully selected committee members and knowledgeable experts, the foundation appropriates funding to best meet the nutritional needs of children in Delaware, so no child is left hungry. qThe Community Resource Center received $2,500. The center assists low-income individuals and families in times of need. It offers a centralized location where residents in the local community can come when they are facing a crisis. Its purpose is to assess the needs of individuals and families, identify and coordinate use of community resources, support individuals and families during their time of uncertainty, provide financial assistance based on need, and create partnerships in the community. aThe Village Improvement Association was granted $1,500. The VIA is a unique organization comprising members of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs from the Rehoboth Beach area. Its objectives are to promote the interests, improvement and progress of Rehoboth Beach, and promote charitable and civic work in the greater Rehoboth Beach area as decided upon by members. aFamily Promise of Southern Delaware received $1,500. Its purpose is to unite faith-based community groups in an effort to provide hospitality, meals, accommodations and re-stabilization services to families with children who are experiencing homelessness. The vision is to address the issue holistically, providing prevention services before families reach crisis, along with shelter and case management when they become homeless. In addition, stabilization programs are erected once families have secured housing to ensure they remain independent. aDelaware Interfaith Power & Light received $1,500. Its mission is to work through faith communities and community partners to provide a religious response to the causes and impacts of climate change. Its founders believe there is a moral responsibility to scientifically inform and spiritually deepen the understanding of relationships with the natural world and with each other. The organization’s goal is to assure the preservation of a healthy and sustainable planet. Members hope to improve the everyday quality of life for all families, neighbors and communities. aThe Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition was awarded $1,500. The coalition offers statewide programs and services while raising awareness of breast health issues through survivorship support services, outreach and education, in order to facilitate the early detection and treatment of breast cancer. The vision of the agency is to create a community where every person diagnosed with breast cancer becomes a survivor, and fear and doubt are replaced with knowledge and hope. The DBCC also supports the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s advocacy efforts to end breast cancer. To support the coalition, go to

aGallo Gives donated $1,000 to the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, whose core purpose is to provide residents of Delmarva and surrounding regions with access to classical music performed by a professional symphony orchestra. The Gallo Gives Foundation is the charitable arm of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty. The foundation is managed by the Greater Lewes Foundation. Most of the funds are contributed by the agents and staff of Gallo Realty, and the company matches all contributions 100 percent.
